Polynucleotides Treatment
a powerful skin rejuvenation treatment
Polynucleotides are injectable skin boosters designed to rejuvenate your skin from within.
Similar to injectable-moisture treatments such as Profhilo, they boost collagen, increase hydration and improve elasticity, but with a little extra oomph.

What Does Polynucleotides Do?
A course reduces the appearance of wrinkles and uneven skin tone (both brown spots and redness), while improving skin hydration. It’s especially good at tackling hollow or sunken-looking eyes, and can also be good for improving scalp hair growth.
As a supportive, preventative or ‘maintenance’ treatment, they also reduce the number of damaging free radicals in the skin and are strongly anti-inflammatory, helping to strengthen your skin's natural barrier.
How Does Polynucleotides Work?
They’re made of fragments of DNA from salmon sperm (or trout sperm, depending on the brand) which, unlikely as it sounds, stimulate human skin at a cellular level, triggering the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid.
What Concerns Can Polynucleotides Work For?
Polynucleotides are great for treating dull and dry, or sensitive skin. Due to their ability to smooth fine lines, tighten skin and encourage glowing skin, Polynucleotides are perfect for
- Enhancing skin hydration, circulation and overall skin quality.
- Forehead: Can be used as an alternative to popular anti-wrinkle injections.
- Eyes: Dark circles, fine lines and under-eye hollowness.
- Cheeks Early crepiness, more visible on smiling
- Mouth: Polynucleotides smooth lines around the mouth without plumping or adding volume. Particularly useful for treating lines around the mouth/chin (whether caused by smoking or not)
- Neck: Tightening up fine lines or crepey-looking skin
Uneven skin covers a multitude of conditions - Polynucleotides are great for scarring, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, rosacea and stretch marks, among others.
What does a Polynucleotides plan look like?
Whilst there is a benefit to having even one syringe of polynucleotides, we recommend a course of 2-3, each spaced 2-4 weeks apart. This will encourage continuing effectiveness. Following the initial course, we recommend an annual top-up.
What sets Polynucleotides apart?
They work differently to fillers and other hydrating injections. Rather than adding volume (such as dermal fillers do), or hydrating (such as Profhilo) they target the fibroblasts, boosting the skin’s cellular repair ability, boosting hydration and increasing elasticity. They can also be injected into areas of the face that certain hyaluronic skin boosters can’t, for example under the eyes.

Polynucleotides Treatment FAQs
Am I Suitable For Polynucleotides?
Yes! Polynucleotides are suitable at any age, at any time of year.
How long does it take to see the results?
It will take about 2–3 weeks for the Polynucleotides to be absorbed into your skin and begin working at the cellular level. Results may be seen from then - and will continue to improve for around 3 months after treatment, when you will see the full effects.
Are Polynucleotides the same as dermal fillers or injectable moisturisers?
No. All 3 are injectable treatments but function differently. Polynucleotides are comprised of long chains of nucleotides (the building blocks of DNA) rather than hyaluronic acid as many dermal fillers and injectable moisturisers are.
While dermal filler physically adds volume to the face, polynucleotides work to initiate your body’s natural rejuvenation processes. Likewise, while HA-based skin boosters are all about boosting hydration, polynucleotides are working more broadly to improve the extracellular matrix, leading to the enhanced production of collagen and elastin.
Can I combine polynucleotides with other treatments?
Yes, they can be used alongside other injectable moisture treatments - and are good for prepping your skin ahead of energy-based treatments (such as link to NeoGen Plasma and Morpheus 8.)
Are Polynucleotides safe?
When performed by a trained and experienced professional, polynucleotide treatments are considered very safe. However, like any medical procedure, there are potential risks and side effects to be aware of. We will run through these in detail with you at your consultation. You can also book an initial call here.
Are there any side effects or risks with Polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are generally well-tolerated. The main potential side effects relate to the site of the injection, e.g. redness, swelling, bruising.
More serious side effects, such as allergic reactions, are rare. A pre-treatment consultation should fully assess and explain any risks for the individual patient.
Do Polynucleotides Hurt?
You will feel a pin-prick sensation and then some stinging for up to 30 seconds after each injection. We use very fine needles and advanced techniques to minimise discomfort.
We can apply a topical numbing cream beforehand if you’re worried.
What types of Polynucleotides are there?
We have chosen to use the top-quality and award-winning Plinest and Ameela at the clinic.
Do Polynucleotides have any disadvantages?
There are a range of health conditions that don’t combine well with Polynucleotides. If you have a circulatory disorder, ongoing dermatitis, epilepsy, active herpes or diabetes, this treatment is not suitable. Likewise, if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding.
What is the afetr care for Polynucleotides?
Ideally, no make-up for 6hrs following treatment. There will be the presence of blebs, and potential bruising. It may take 1–2 days to calm down, but recovery is swift.
