Wrinkle Relaxing Injections

Botulinum Toxin, or BTX, is a natural purified protein that temporarily relaxes your muscles. Botox® is a brand of Botulinum Toxin, and we use this alongside Bocouture®, Azzalure® and Dysport® for your desired result. 

Frown lines, worry lines and laughter lines are all caused by repeated contractions of facial muscles: relaxing these muscles with BTX is a quick, safe and effective way to smooth and soften the appearance of wrinkles.

BTX is commonly used to treat wrinkles and lines when you frown, crow’s feet and forehead lines. They are also great for eliminating under-eye bulges to open the eye up. Wrinkle injections with BTX can also be used for treating the corners of the mouth, the neck and the masseter muscles (side of the jaw).

We will undertake a thorough facial analysis and detailed discussion before proposing an appropriate treatment plan. The actual procedure takes just 5-10 minutes and involved a small number of injections of Botulinum solution directly into the muscle groups causing the wrinkles.

You will be able to return to your normal daily activities immediately following treatment, and there will be no visible changes. The full effect of the treatment will develop over the following 2-14 days. 

This varies from individual to individual, but most people tend to have 3-4 treatments over the course of the first year. The duration of effect often increases with each repeat treatment: eventually, you may only require one maintenance treatment per year.

There may be slight discomfort as the needle enters the skin, and there is the possibility of a small bruise at the site of the injection. Other side effects are rare but include slight drooping of the eyelid, which usually resolves in a week or so, and headaches. There are many myths and horror stories in the media: any concerns you may have will be addressed thoroughly prior to treatment. No long-term side effects have been reported. 

No, definitely not. Our approach is natural and subtle. We will only treat the specific muscles that are responsible for your wrinkles, minimising the possible loss of facial expression.

Absolutely not. The treatment is completely reversible and there are no permanent effects. In fact, your skin is likely to have benefitted from the period of reduced muscle contraction, as wrinkle formation is slower during this time.

For some clients we are working to smooth deep lines over time, and others we are helping to make them look a little less tired or cross. 

The wrinkle injections only takes a few minutes to administer via a very small needle and is often referred to as a “lunchtime” procedure.

We would advise you to stay upright and to try and exercise the areas treated for 24 hours following the injections. It is important to avoid massaging these areas though. This is to prevent the diffusion of the solution to adjacent muscles. We suggest avoiding the gym the day of treatment, however, you can return to normal activity the next day.

Side effects can include bruising, swelling and discomfort at the injection site. These side effects typically dissipate within 72 hours.

You may experience little red bumps immediately after treatment at the injection sites, but this will settle within 10-20 minutes. Make up can be applied.
